I would love all the things to be USB-C for charging. At this point I’ve stopped buying anything that is not USB-C. But my iphone is 3years old this fall, so guess who’s getting a new battery later this year!
This year’s iPhone should be the last with Lightning
eventually the benefits of switching to USB-C will outweigh the benefits of staying with Lightning
The biggest benefit of switching to USB-C is obviously having the same charger handle your laptop, tablet, and phone. It’s just so much more convenient.
